Cardiac Surgery Group in Jacksonville, FL has an exciting opportunity for a CT Surgery PA to join our growing practice. We have just added a 4th Cardiothoracic Surgeon and a 3rd PA to our practice and are seeking to hire a 4th PA to support our growth.
Physician Assistants in our comprehensive Cardiothoracic Surgery department will obtain patient history, perform physical examinations, order and perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, formulate a diagnostic impression, develop and implement a treatment plan, monitor the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions and offer counseling and education to meet patient’s needs. In addition, individuals in this role will make appropriate referrals, prescribe prescription medication, assist in surgery, including: heart and lung transplant, cardiac assist devices, general cardiac and thoracic surgery, and endoscopic vein harvest. The Physician Assistant is an integral member of the cardiothoracic team. This position offers a diverse surgical experience in the areas of adult cardiac, general thoracic, cardiac and pulmonary transplantation, mechanical circulatory support and minimally invasive surgery. Candidates will be involved in daily patient rounds in ICU, telemetry units with some clinic responsibility. This is a non-resident service offering significant potential for growth in a complex surgical practice. Operative duties include assisting on all surgical cases, endoscopic vein harvesting and primary closure of all wounds, including sternum to skin. No in-house call. Shared call duties for primary patient management with shared weekend availability. The practice also includes one nurse practitioner responsible for ICU coverage.
Qualified candidates must be a graduate of an accredited university program and NCCPA certified. Must be licensed or eligible to practice as a PA in the State of Florida. Operating room experience in Cardiothoracic surgery and/or heart/lung transplantation is required. Join our respected team as we provide health, hope and healing to people from all walks of life.
Basic Qualifications:
Must be a graduate of a CAAHEP (Council on the Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) approved university program. NCCPA certification required. Must be licensed/certified or eligible to practice as a PA in the State of Florida. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Other Qualifications:
Operating Room experience in Cardiothoracic surgery and/or heart/lung transplantation highly preferred. Primary Care or Surgical experience preferred. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong computer skills preferred.
License or Certification:
The Physician Assistant must be board-certified by the NCCPA at the time of employment. Registration with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) is required. Certain specialty positions may require additional advanced certification (BLS, ACLS, ATLS, etc.)
