Description: Hiring a Physician Assistant for a top academic medical center hiring for a program providing services to help low income individuals with medical and mental health conditions affecting their ability to be employed. The program invites individuals to receive psychosocial and medical assessments in order to identify possible clinical conditions that may impact their ability to participate in work-related activities. The Physician Assistant will expedite patients throughout the program and formulate assessments based on testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain complete histories and performs pertinent physical exams with assessment of normal and abnormal findings on new and return patients
  • Keeps the Nurse Manager and Supervising Physician informed as to the needs, problem areas and suggestions, which may be beneficial to the service.
  • Consult services in the diagnosis and treatment of various ailments
  • Interpret diagnostic testing including but not limited to EKG?s, holters, echocardiograms, and stress testing
  • Order and collect specimens for routine laboratory tests, radiology, examinations screening procedures and therapeutic procedures, including blood and blood products
  • Effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, staff and members of the community from diverse backgrounds
  • Facilitate collaboration between providers
  • Provide and coordinate patient teaching and counseling
  • Administer, order, furnish and/or prescribe medications

Requirements:

  • Physician Assistant Certification
  • New York State License
  • Understanding of disability as it relates to work preferred
