Texas Tech University Health Science Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) is the only health sciences center along the U.S.-Mexico border that provides the opportunities and environment for direct intellectual and interpersonal exchanges among nursing, medical, and graduate research students on one campus.

It is the fourth university in the Texas Tech University System and is comprised of three schools: the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing and the Graduate School of Biomedical Science.

Company History

The Department of Emergency Medicine staffs University Medical Center (UMC), the only level one trauma center for 250 miles. The Emergency Department has over 60,000 visits annually. We serve a diverse, primarily Hispanic community from our location less than one mile from the US – Mexico border.

Our 3 year categorical Emergency Medicine Residency Program has been training emergency physicians for over 30 years. Our EM Residency Program is part of a GME program hosting over 200 interns, residents and fellows. The department boasts a state of the art Simulation Center which provides training to not only our students and residents, but also El Paso EMS, US Border Patrol, and learners from other academic departments. The West Texas Regional Poison Center, run by our toxicology faculty, is poised to host future toxicology fellows.
