**Department of Medicine Inaugural Vice Chair opening in Tyler, TX**_x000D_ 100 miles from Dallas, TX_x000D_ Permanent - Full Time_x000D_ _x000D_ The Inaugural Vice Chair will report directly to the Department Chair and will have a mix of clinical and administrative responsibilities. The Vice Chair will be charged with the following roles and responsibilities:_x000D_ - Develop a Departmental strategy to expand clinical service lines in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. _x000D_ - Work closely with the Chair and Division Chiefs to develop and implement a clinical faculty recruitment strategy to support our expanding clinical enterprise._x000D_ - Work with the Chair, Leadership (Chief Medical Officer, Medical Directors, and Senior Clinical Administrators), and Program Directors to promote engagement of faculty, fellows, residents, and students with quality improvement priorities._x000D_ - Develop strategies to promote population health through creative ambulatory quality improvement initiatives._x000D_ - Work closely with ambulatory clinical administrators, staff, and clinical faculty to promote effective outpatient clinical operations._x000D_ - Maintain a clinical practice with both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities within the Department._x000D_ _x000D_ ACCOMPANYING KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:_x000D_ - Knowledge and understanding of current trends in clinical medicine, including physician hospital relations, physician practice models, quality improvement processes, and clinical information systems._x000D_ - A record of improving quality and safety in a complex health system._x000D_ - Demonstrated leadership and communication skills; the ideal candidate is a strong motivator and coach, counselor, and negotiator in achieving the vision and goals set for the Department._x000D_ - A commitment to service within the community._x000D_ - Demonstrated excellence in teaching and educational leadership in diverse learning environments._x000D_ - Evidence of successful mentoring skills._x000D_ - Strong organization and process-management skills._x000D_ - Demonstrated administrative effectiveness._x000D_ - A commitment to and active participation in medical, graduate student, and postdoctoral education._x000D_ - A commitment to support efforts to promote a climate of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the Department._x000D_ - The highest integrity and personal ethics._x000D_ _x000D_ REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:_x000D_ - Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or foreign equivalent_x000D_ - Board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine with active and ongoing clinical experience in both the inpatient and outpatient environments._x000D_ - Prior leadership roles within a health system related to clinical operations and/or quality improvement._x000D_ _x000D_ WORKING ENVIRONMENT:_x000D_ Administrative and clinical environment._x000D_ _x000D_ SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY:_x000D_ The Vice Chair has responsibility for the development and implementation of initiatives to improve clinical operations and to promote clinical quality in both the inpatient and outpatient environments._x000D_ _x000D_ SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:_x000D_ This position will direct clinical faculty, clinical fellows, and medical residents to implement Departmental priorities related to clinical operations and clinical quality.
