HonorHealth Osborn is seeking a Trauma Medical Director to provide collaborative leadership to an established Trauma/Surgical Critical Team. HonorHealth Osborn has been a Level 1 Verified Trauma Center for over 20 years servicing Scottsdale and the greater northeast region of Arizona.

As the only locally owned, locally managed not-for-profit healthcare system in the metro area, HonorHealth is unique in being able to respond to the needs of the patients, community, and providers. Osborn is Trauma with 100% support from Administration to continue to keep world-class Trauma Care close to home in a 320 Bed community-based environment located in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale.

The Trauma Medical Director will work in close collaboration with the Trauma Program Manager to lead a robust team of professionals committed to TQIP driven outcomes and continual process improvement. The Osborn Trauma Program is a hospital employed acute care surgery model with support to build an elective practice if desired.

The desired Trauma Medical Director will have demonstrated leadership in a Level 1 or Level II Trauma Center with understanding and commitment to requirements of ACS Level 1 Trauma Center Verification, ACGME growth and lead the team to participate in research. The Osborn Trauma program has experienced growth in the past couple of years based upon resources dedicated to outreach and long-standing partnership with EMS and other first responders.

The HonorHealth Osborn Trauma Center:

  • Verified American College of Surgeons Level 1 Trauma Center with mature performance improvement and operational improvement systems
  • Large modern Trauma Bays adjacent to OR and X-Ray. Direct elevator access to spacious and bright ICU on 2nd floor and Helipad on 3rd floor which can land a BlackHawk or 3 Helicopters
  • Outstanding Trauma Centric subspecialty representation including dedicated trauma anesthesia, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, interventional radiology and all necessary medical support teams and services
  • Magnet Designated Nursing Staff (Designation for top 2% in Country)

Education and Research:

  • An ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) accredited Surgical Critical Care fellowship
  • An OTA (Orthopedic Trauma Association) accredited Orthopedic Trauma fellowship
  • General Surgery Residents
  • A unique military partnership program that provides opportunities for ATLS, Trauma Nurse Fellowship and pre-deployment and first responder teaching opportunities.
  • Direct support from the HonorHealth Research Institute for trauma research including a trauma research nurse and trauma research director and statistician

Clinical Support:

  • A full complement of Full-Time employed trauma surgeons with board certification in Surgery and added qualifications in Surgical Critical Care
  • A full complement of employed advanced practitioners

  • Recently transition to 12-hour Trauma Shifts with an option of 24-hour shifts if desired which has greatly improved work/life balance
