Reporting to the Office Manager, and under the general direction of the Medical Director, performs clinical activities related to assessment and evaluation of patients. Under the direct supervision of physicians, performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, assists in pre-operative procedures, surgery, post-operative procedures. Provides care to patients ranging in age from ages 16-100+.

  1. Meets all standards of the Patient Satisfaction Initiative Criteria in order to make Abington – Jefferson Health (AJH) the hospital of choice for Patients and Employees.
  1. Assists physician(s) with operative procedures; assists in pre-operative and post-operative process. Conducts hospital rounds, performs hospital and emergency consults, evaluates and assesses patients’ needs, communicates with the attending physician and fellow.
  1. Attends to completion of hospital medical records, dictations, and signatures in order to maintain accurate patient care documentation.
  1. Presents patients assessments, films, reports to the physician(s) to initiate plan of appropriate care.
  1. Under the supervision of the physician(s) calls in medication orders to provide on-going patient care; orders diagnostic laboratory, radiological and other clinical tests to determine the evidence of the disease/injury and to develop a differential diagnosis and plan of treatment.
  1. Provides patient (and family) education, answers patient/family call to maintain communication and risk management. Provides call coverage as assigned by medical directory of IMBS.
  1. Attends Bariatric Surgery conferences, seminars, meetings and M&M’s related to training sessions to meet credentialing and CME requirements and to attain proficiency in the field of bariatric surgery. Assists in bariatric research QI projects and studies.
  1. Assist physician(s) during office hours, performing history and physician examinations and consultations. Assists in documenting patient data to establish presumptive diagnosis and to determine patients’ medical needs; records documentation into patients chart. Maintains office chart; dictation of patients visits, office notes, medication orders, reports and forms to supply all required documentation.
  1. Performs other duties as assigned.
