Newer Antipsychotics No Better Than Older Agent in Treating Child, Adolescent Schizophrenia

Two second-generation antipsychotics -- olanzapine and risperidone -- are no more effective than molindone, a first-generation antipsychotic, in treating children with schizophrenia. Furthermore, the newer agents were linked to substantial weight gain, and olanzapine was associated with significant increases in metabolic adverse effects. Medscape Medical News
