Early Multifactorial Intervention Key in Diabetes

A study looking at early intervention with multiple drug combinations in high-risk type 2 diabetes patients has shown an absolute risk reduction of 20% in all-cause mortality compared with similar patients treated conventionally. Early therapy is the key, say researchers, stressing that their study is hugely different from the ACCORD trial, in which the intensive glucose-lowering arm has just been halted prematurely due to higher mortality.
