Elevated Insulin, Glucose Raise Risk of Polyp Recurrence

Data from the Polyp Prevention Trial indicate that patients with elevated insulin or glucose at the time of adenoma removal are at increased risk for recurrent adenoma. Elevated glucose is associated with a particularly high risk of developing a recurrent advanced polyp, the type with a high likelihood of progressing to invasive cancer. Reuters Health Information

Multipolar Radiofrequency Ablation Yields High Liver Cancer Survival Rates

Patients with metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) who receive multipolar radiofrequency ablation, delivered to multiple sites simultaneously, have very high tumor eradication rates. They also have survival rates similar to patients who undergo surgery after a mean of nearly 2 years of follow-up, investigators announced in Washington, DC, at the annual meeting of the American Roentgen Ray Society meeting.
