Compared to implantation of paclitaxel-eluting stents, the use of sirolimus-eluting stents reduces restenosis and has other beneficial effects in patients with diabetes, a group who have an increased risk of unfavorable outcomes with bare-metal stents, Korean researchers report in the August 26th issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
