3-D Mammography Cuts False-Positive Rates by Half

Stereoscopic digital mammography, with its 3-dimensional view of the inner structures of the breast, provides volumetric information on breast lesion depth and lesion characteristics. The technique cuts the false-positive rate by half compared with conventional 2-D mammography, researchers reported here this week during the 93rd scientific assembly of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).
