The Sr. Java Developer will work within a collaborative Agile development team, supporting strategic applications, including our flagship customer management application. In addition, the role will interface with other Java application engineers in the integration, support, and enhancement of components/modules, and be responsible for integration of internal and 3rd-party systems through web services leveraging an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). This position will take ownership of the design and development effort, as well as research, investigate and evaluate design and code of existing system and interfaces.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Translates client business needs into technical solutions. Implements the solutions by using expertise in web-based technologies (J2EE, JSP, Struts, Weblogic, Web Services, Oracle etc).
  • Creates and delivers necessary artifacts and documents at designated phased reviews. Participates in technical reviews and inspections to verify 'intent of change' is carried out through the entire project. Assists in providing time estimates for project related tasks.
  • Leads translation of logical design into physical program design/specifications. Develops and integrates IT solutions (e.g. application module code, purchased package customization) by using appropriate development methodologies and standards, adopting/applying standard architectures/patterns, taking into account critical performance characteristics, security measures and customer requirements
  • Collaborates with others (e.g. System Designer/Analysts, Architects, Senior Developer) to establish the physical application framework (e.g. libraries, reuse modules, development environments).
  • Ensures the development and execution of unit test plans to validate that application modules meet technical specifications
  • Collaborate with others (e.g. Operations, System Designer/Analysts, Developers) to prepare and stage production builds, and verify production releases meet technical and business expectations.
  • Leads data migration/conversion activities . Provides technical leadership and mentoring to developers, and leads the technical application development/integration of IT solutions
  • Participates as integral part of design team on project(s) crossing multiple product lines or a major phase of significant projects. Participating in design/architecture meetings.
  • Identifies, recommends and pursues technology/practices to relevant to the solution of highly complex projects. Recommends and implements corrections in highly complex technical applications and analysis to enhance performance.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a development team of highly-skilled architects and developers.

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:

BS, MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
