Job Description & Requirements
Surgeon - (Surgery - General) Locum Tenens
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day
Board Certified or Board Eligible General Surgeon to provide coverage as soon as credentialed for 6 months with the option to extend 6 additional months. *Any state license. Work hours are Monday through Friday 7:00a to 3:30pm. Call is every 4th night and every 4th weekend. Conduct inpatient rounds, evaluate and treat patients in the Emergency Room and Outpatient Clinics. Experience in a wide variety of open and laparoscopic general surgical procedures. Patients seen per day on an inpatient basis averages 10 and in the clinic 12 per day. 2 outpatient clinics per week. Must have Basic Cardiac Life Support. Provide instruction and teaching to residents and medical students.
A general surgeon(locum tenens) is trained and qualified to perform a wide range of surgical procedures and thus must be familiar with a wealth of medical conditions and treatments. These surgeons may be tasked with operations ranging from burn trauma to vascular surgery, though they do not usually perform highly complex surgical operations, such as treatments of the heart or brain, which are performed by specialized surgeons.
