MedCare Staffing is seeking a General Surgeon for locums coverage near Phoenix, AZ. The assignment begins August 1, 2014 and ends January 31, 2015. There will be a 6 month option for extension to July 31, 2015.
Monday through Friday: 7 AM - 3:30 PM
Scope of Practice: Provider will be responsible for initial evaluation and overall workups, history & physicals, and admission of general surgery patients. Clinical duties include but are not limited to perform surgery in Operating Room with experience in wide variety of open and laparoscopic general surgical procedures, conduct in-patient rounds, and evaluate patients in Emergency Room and Outpatient Clinics. Provider will also teach patients regarding their diseases and treatment regimens, assess Veterans’ risks and benefits associated with surgical procedures, and provide appropriate informed consent so Veterans fully understand the important risks and benefits of surgical intervention.
Requirements: Provider must be Board Certified or Board Eligible with a DEA and proficiency in General Surgery. Prior VA and EMR experience are needed with copies of all malpractice and training history. Provider must have any unrestricted state medical license along with BLS/ ACLS and VetPro registrations.
