General Surgeon needed for locum tenens coverage for a VAMC in Maine. Start date 8/1/14-7/31/15. Duties include:
a. Perform outpatient and inpatient examinations.
b. Provide consultation services and pre-operative patient and Operating Room evaluations.
c. Perform laparoscopic cholecystectomies, and other laparoscopic procedures. Routine procedures include cholecystectomy, appendectomy, intestinal resection, colostomy, herniography, removal of soft tissue and skin tumors, insertion of central lines, portacaths, and other procedures.
d. Work effectively with patients, families, co-workers, and other health care professionals.
e. Attend Surgical Meetings.
f. Participate in quality assurance programs and chart review.
g. Complete mandatory training (Fire Safety, Information Security, etc.).
