Surgeon - (Surgery - General) Locum Tenens
StartDate: 03/31/2014Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day

This Veterans Affairs Medical Center needs a general surgeon to supplement current staff levels on a locum tenens basis. The assignment would start as soon as credentialing can be completed and last for a period of three months, possibly longer. Working hours are from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday with call every one out of three nights, weekends, and holidays.

A general surgeon(locum tenens) is trained and qualified to perform a wide range of surgical procedures and thus must be familiar with a wealth of medical conditions and treatments. These surgeons may be tasked with operations ranging from burn trauma to vascular surgery, though they do not usually perform highly complex surgical operations, such as treatments of the heart or brain, which are performed by specialized surgeons.

Required Qualifications
The physician shall have active BLS and ACLS prior to the start date. Because this hospital is a federal facility, a license from any US state will qualify.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with the veteran population is considered a plus.
