Job Description

Last Update: 6/12/14
Join a Neurosurgery group in Palm Springs California that acts as the faculty for the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center Neurosurgery program, one of the largest accredited Neurosurgery training programs in the US. You will be nominated for rank of Assistant Professor of Surgery at Western University of Health Sciences. Preferred candidate will have fellowship training in complex spine and interested in a long term position. You will build meaningful relationships with colleagues and referral sources via a "can do" attitude and in addition to mentoring residents and fellows; you may be involved in developing your own fellowship program based around spine and skullbase. Surgery workload: 150 to 200 cases per year. Call: 1 in 3 currently, but may evolve to 1 in 4 in the next 12 to 24 months (always with residents on first call). Attending neurosurgeon only comes in for surgery or for highly complex cases which is very rare. All patients except for acute head injury are admitted to neurointensivists who are part of the team, so the neurosurgeons can concentrate on their own priorities. This is essentially a salaried job based on academic income averages with some incentives built in. Palm Springs is located just a couple hours from Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego and the Ski Resort area of Big Bear Mountain. It offers the best of California Desert Living with beautiful scenery, an abundance of restaurants, shopping, cultural and outdoor activities. Please send CV for further consideration.
