The Medical Staff of VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) is recruiting for a full-time radiologist to serve as Chief, of Radiology Section board certified or board eligible preferred. The incumbent is assigned as a Diagnostic Radiologist to the Diagnostic Imaging Service and reports to the Director, Diagnostic Imaging Service. The incumbent will function as an equal member within the larger team of staff radiologist. Individuals with specialized fellowship training in a particular sub specialty may be assigned responsibilities for that sub specialty and may function as the primary radiologist responsible for formulating policy, procedures, education and training impacting the daily clinical operations of the sub specialty. The incumbent may be required to function as the Deputy Director, Diagnostic Imaging Service. The incumbent is fully accountable and has responsibility for the effective and efficient management and supervision (planning, directing, organizing, and coordinating) of radiology programs and services. Duties will include: exercising administrative, programmatic, clinical, and academic oversight of radiology programs to ensure delivery of quality services; coordinating and integrating both clinical and administrative aspects of the programs into a comprehensive package of services to meet the needs of the veteran population; continuously reviewing and evaluating the professional performance of all individuals with clinical privileges; ensuring that there is compliance with all Joint Commission functions and standards that are applicable to radiology programs (assessment of the patient; care of the patient; patient rights/organizational ethics, continuum of care; safety, etc.); participating in the recruitment process to ensure the hiring and retention of the highest quality radiology staff and participation in employee/ labor relations matters as appropriate. The preferred candidate should be American Board of Radiology certified with fellowship training in Tone of the radiology fields e.g. body, abdominal cardiothoracic, musculoskeletal imaging with prior leadership experience in Radiology related field;also preferred candidates for this position must hold or be eligible for Washington state medical licensure and must have documented scholarly activities and publications suitable for appointment to the Radiology Department at the University of Washington at an appropriate faculty rank.
