Pulmonologist-Critical Care - Physician - (Pulmonology - CCU) Locum Tenens
StartDate: 11/03/2014Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day

This Veterans Affairs Medical Center seeks a pulmonary critical care physician to provide services on a locum tenens basis while regular staff recruitment efforts are in progress. Working hours are from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. This assignment will commence immediately upon the completion of credentialing and last for a period of six months, or until a permanent hire can be identified.

A pulmonary disease physician, also known as a pulmonologist, (locum tenens) focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases. In a critical care setting, these physicians work to stabilize and treat acute lung illnesses and injuries. A pulmonologist performs a wide variety of tests to assess and diagnose the nature of lung-related health problems, conducting physical examinations and utilizing imaging technology to make their diagnoses. In a critical care case where immediate surgery may be necessary, pulmonologists work alongside surgeons to expeditiously treat patients.

Required Qualifications
The physician shall be Board Certified or Board Eligilble in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and have an active BLS and ACLS prior to the start date.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with the veteran population is considered a plus.
