Tenet Healthcare is seeking (1-2) BC/BE PSY where you will be needed and completely appreciated.
What you can expect:
• provide services in our Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit
• provide services to our Senior Intensive Outpatient Program
• provide Consultative Liaison services to VBMC-B and VBMC-H (added with recruitment of additional staff)
• provide academic services, teaching residents and medical students (15 hours per week)
plus some research work
• Inpatient practice is M-F, 8a-5p
• Call expectations are 7 days per month, including 1 weekend per month. The weekend requires that all patients in the unit be seen
Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit
o 37 bed unit opened in 2008 in Brownsville
o adults, 17 and up
o primarily psychotic disorders and major depressive disorders
o average daily census averages 25-27 (we want to grow that to full capacity)
o average length of stay is 5 days
o admissions are 24/7
o average number of admissions per day is 5 to 10
o average number of discharges per day 3 to 8
o both voluntary and involuntary admissions
o call is currently 1:2, with recruitment will go to 1:3 and eventually to 1:4
o average number of admissions per weekend is 8-12
o no discharges during the weekend unless a 4 hour letter is written
o H&P’s are completed by internal medicine physicians
o One hour response to the unit for face to face
o Psych evaluations must be performed within 24 hours of admission
Senior Intensive Outpatient Program
o Comprehensive service for those 55 and older
o Program is offered at both VBMC-B and VBMC-H
o Averages 2 new evaluations per day/7 follow-ups –med checks one morning per week
Academics
o Faculty position, teaching residents and medical students
o With UT Health Science Center, a full 4 year medical school is under development
o Several residency programs will be developed, including psychiatry
o Psychiatry residency is expected to have 5 residents per year
Financials:
• You will be employed with a completive base salary commensurate based on experience
