Scope of Work:
• Required to provide care to approximately 10 patients per day from the 187 bed Domiciliary Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program or Behavioral Health Outpatient Clinic.
• Veterans have complex mental health issues to include, PTSD, bipolar, substance use, etc.
• Conduct mental health assessments/evaluations.
• Manage mental health care.
• Make appropriate arrangements for inpatient psychiatric care when deemed necessary.
• Draft treatment plans.
• Order and monitor the results of diagnostic testing.
• Order and adjust appropriate medication.
• Order and incorporate the results of consults to specialty providers into the treatment plan.
• Document in the computerized patient record system (CPRS) in a timely manner.
• Provide patient education as clinically needed.
• Complete all "clinical reminders" in the computerized patient record system (CPRS) for each patient.
• Perform services utilizing Tele-healthcare.
Qualifications:
• Must have at least 1 year of experience.
• Must be Board Certified/Board Eligible within 4 years of completing residency at time of contract award.
• Must have a current, full and unrestricted license in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
• Must have a degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
• Must have a current and valid DEA registration.
• Current BLS Certification is required.
• Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Prior VA experience and VetPro enrollment are preferred.
• Must possess knowledge of the special needs of age-specific patients, both male and female that range in age from 18 to 85 (and older).
• Must be able to use sound judgment in the selection of treatment interventions.
• Must be knowledgeable of psychiatric diagnoses, treatment/intervention, medication effects/side effects and mastery of the theories, principles, concepts and methodologies acquired through psychiatry practice.
• Must have no physical limitations as related to walking, bending, lifting, standing, and typing.
