Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
StartDate: 09/02/2014Available Shifts: Part Time
Facility in Texas is looking for a Psychiatrist to work 3 month assignment that would include direct unit care coverage, coverage for patients arriving through our ER that fit appropriately for the unit. In addition to the clinical role the provider will also be acting as Medical Director. Psychiatrist will treat patients that range from 55-65 years of age. Prefer 3-5 days a week on-site availability, however with a new unit may not be full days. If not available for 5 days per week, can consider telemedicine services. The physician would need to be comfortable working with staff in a new service line. Call coverage is limited to ER patients during weeknights. If interested call Staff Care for more details.
A psychiatrist (locum tenens) is a mental health professional, who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. After completing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
Required Qualifications
Open to board eligible or board certified Psychiatrist.
Preferred Qualifications
Comfortable treating adult and geriatric patients.
