Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day
Correctional facility in North Carolina needs Psychiatrist starting as soon as possible. Coverage hours are Monday - Friday 8 am-5 pm, no weekends and no call. Locums coverage needed for 2-3 days per week. The physician will see male adult inmates; perform evaluations, rounding, consults and medication management. A psychiatrist (locum tenens) is a mental health professional, who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. After completing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
Required Qualifications
Diagnose and provide ongoing medication management for consumers with mental illness, emotional and behavioral disorders, substance abuse issues and/or chronic health conditions.
Timely and accurate completion of psychiatric evaluations, treatment plans, authorizations, and related documentation as needed.
Work under the supervision of a staff psychiatrist.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a correctional facility.
Facility needs 2-3 days per week.
