Psychiatrist Job Description
Responsibilities:
• Completes psychiatric evaluations of patients.
• Skillfully diagnose and treat severely and persistently mentally ill patients;
• Reviews medical conditions of patients as they may relate to their psychiatric problems
• Explaining procedures and discussing test results or prescribing treatments with patients;
• Consulting patients, their families, attorneys, teachers, other medical professionals, and other involved persons in interpreting clinical findings.
• Ensures that medical care is completely and accurately documented in the medical record
• Initiates requests for laboratory procedures and/or diagnostic tests and follow up.
• Collecting, recording, and maintaining patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results
• Oversight of staff and staff consultations.
• They don’t do therapy. Consult with therapist on the progress of the patient.
• ‘Medication Management; Prescribes medications, explanation of dosage, side effects to patients with psychiatric disorders.
• Attending and participating in teaching and general staff conferences.
• Receiving advanced training in psychiatry or neurology field.
• Performing related work or duties as assigned.
• NO WEEKENDS, NO AFTER HOURS
