Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day

(2) Board Certified or Board Eligible Locum Tenen Psychiatrists to provide coverage for 6 months with the option to extend. Must have at least 6 months experience. Work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm. No Call. Inpatient and Outpatient. Responsible for patients in the mental health outpatient clinic & inpatient unit patients with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Psychiatrist will supervise & teach medical residents rotating through the Mental Health Outpatient Clinic and inpatient unit. The Psychiatrist will collaborate with Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses and residents in performing patient evaluations & mental health treatment. Patient Care will be required for new & established veteran referrals. Such care includes examination, general history, evaluation, prescribing medications, diagnosis, treatment, etc. Must have BCLS. Site uses computerized medical records system.

A psychiatrist (locum tenens) is a mental health professional, who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. After completing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
