Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day
A psychiatrist is needed to provide locum tenens coverage at this outpatient clinic starting as soon as privileges can be granted. The assignment would last for a period of three months, or until a permanent hire can be identified. Working hours are from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, no call.
A psychiatrist (locum tenens) is a mental health professional, who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. After completing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
Required Qualifications
The physician shall be either board certified or board eligible and have obtained a BLS prior to the start date.
