Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
StartDate: 05/05/2014Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day

The Joint Naval base at Camp Pendleton is looking for a qualified and committed psychiatrist to provide services to the troops and their families. These providers will need to have an active and unrestricted state license. Since this is a government facility, the provider's malpractice insurance will be covered by the federal government. The government requires the provider to be board certified and have completed a two year psychiatry residency from an accredited program. This provider will need to have a fee paid and non-exempt DEA, as well as a current BLS life support certification thru the American Heart Association. The psychiatrist will be working in an out patient clinic setting and working Monday thru Friday for 8 hours a day. There will be either a thirty minute or one hour lunch(uncompensated) allowed, depending on the volume of patients. The provider will be seeing a panel of patients, and the vast majority of those patients will be adults.

A psychiatrist (locum tenens) is a mental health professional, who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. After completing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
