Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day
An accredited hospital system in Maine is looking for an inpatient adult psychiatrist to assist in their strong mental health program. The mental health unit in needing a mental health physician that will work a full time schedule from 8am to 5pm starting July 1st for 3 months of coverage. They will also be responsible for intake, evaluations, medication management, responsible for a 1:4 Call rotation, and patients' progress in moving toward discharge. A psychiatrist (locum tenens) is a mental health professional, who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. After completing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
Facility Location
The area now known as Waterville was once inhabited by a specific tribe of Indians known as the Abenaki Indians. The wilderness outside the city was rugged and the long winters were always cold, but the beauty and power of the various rivers within the area proved to draw more people to Waterville creating a place where new schools and businesses could take root. New shops and restaurants also have began to flourish.
