Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day
Are you a board certified psychiatrist looking for a part time opportunity in Northern California? This acute care psychiatric unit is looking for sporadic coverage over a Monday to Friday work schedule. The mental health physician is responsible for medication management and ongoing treatment as patients' transition from an inpatient unit to their ongoing mental health treatment on an outpatient basis. The expected schedule for the physician will be 8 am to 5pm, with no Call responsibilities while treating their adult population. A psychiatrist (locum tenens) is a mental health professional, who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. After completing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
Required Qualifications
All candidates must be licensed in the state of California in psychiatry, and have at least six documented cases of acute care patient care in the last 18 months
