Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: Varied Shift
Psychiatry shift coverage needed in Brooklyn for 24/7 ER and "Consultation Liaison" duties at busy inpatient hospital. Possible coverage at Long Island location as well. Flexible shifts to accommodate your current schedule. Days/nights/weekends hours needed. Physician duties include ER coverage (assessments, admissions) to patients of all ages. "Consultation Liaison" works in ER and consults at hospital as needed. Board Eligible candidates welcome to apply. Local candidates only, please. A psychiatrist (locum tenens) is a mental health professional, who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. After completing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
