Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
StartDate: 12/02/2013Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day

The Air Force is looking for a qualified and committed psychiatrist to see the troops and their families at Hanscomb Air Force base. Hanscomb is located just 20 miles outside fantastic Boston, Massachusetts. The provider will need to be a U.S. citizen. The government will accept any active and current state license. The provider will need to have a current BLS life support that has been approved thru the American Heart Association. The physician will also need to have a fee paid, non-exempt DEA. The provider will need to be board certified and have completed a 3 year residency program with psychiatry. The doctor will be working in an out-patient setting from 730-430 on a Monday thru Friday schedule. The provider will be seeing 6-8 patients per day, as well as some of the patients that will be seen will be done on a Tele-psychiatry process. The support staff will include two other psychiatrist and 2 psychiatric nurses.

A psychiatrist (locum tenens) is a mental health professional, who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. After completing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
