Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day
A Psychiatrist is needed for an inpatient program in Southwestern Connecticut for a full-time ongoing opportunity beginning on July 26, 2013. The schedule will be Monday-Friday, 8a-5p. No call for nights or weekends is required. The physician will see patients 6 years of age and older. This position requires experience treating patients with dual diagnoses. The physician will perform evaluations, consults and medication management in an inpatient setting. Consideration will be given to candidates that are board eligible or board certified Psychiatrist within 5 years of residency program. Call Staff Care for more details regarding this opportunity.
A psychiatrist (locum tenens) is a mental health professional, who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. After completing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
Required Qualifications
Prefer providers to have an active Connecticut license. Psychiatrist experienced treating children with all types of cases.
Youngest age seen in unit is 6 years old.
Preferred Qualifications
Clean background with no outstanding action on license.
