Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day
Large hospital health system in Maine is looking for an inpatient psychiatrist to assist in their strong mental health program. Physician will be working full time from midnight to 8am. Provider will be assisting with overnight coverage on the observation unit. They will also be responsible for intake, evaluations, medication management, and patients' progress in moving toward discharge. Psychiatrist will be working with a full support staff. A psychiatrist (locum tenens) is a mental health professional, who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. After completing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
Required Qualifications
Provider must be licensed to practice psychiatry in Maine.
