A $20,000 recruitment or relocation incentive has been authorized. The Tucson VA is the principal teaching affiliate with the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. Medical students, residents, and fellows rotate at our facility. Therefore, the selected candidate will also be eligible for an appointment with the University of Arizona. The Tucson VA is a tertiary care facility providing a full range of clinical services including cardiac surgery and neurosurgery. It has been a flagship quality provider within the VA and was a 2012 winner of the prestigious Robert W. Carey Performance Excellence Award. The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) professional staff is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to provide quality service in our progressive, innovative, and highly interdisciplinary health care system for the Veteran inpatient and outpatient population. Successful applicants will have a strong commitment to patient care and teaching. Possession of a DEA-X certificate or plan to secure one is a plus. As one of 28 SAVAHCS psychiatrists you would provide care for a diverse patient population. Opportunities exist to utilize state of the art telehealth equipment (including from your own home) along with traditional in-person appointments. Approximately three to four weeks per year you will provide telephone back up to psychiatry residents from the University of Arizona and supervise residents on weekends during those weeks on our state of the art inpatient unit, in exchange for compensatory days off during those pay periods. Academic experience and research interest is a plus. In addition to patient care, responsibilities also include supervision and education of residents and medical students from The University of Arizona.
