VA ANN ARBOR HEALTHCARE SYSTEM STAFF PSYCHIATRIST Primary Care Integrated Psychiatry Toledo Community Based Outpatient Clinic Position Summary/Duties: Exciting, full-time, Clinical Track position at the Instructor level or higher is available for a psychiatrist with interest, expertise and experience in the specialized area of Primary Care based psychiatric care for patients in the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System (VAAAHS), specifically in the Toledo Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Toledo, OH. Ideal candidates will have - expertise in psychiatric assessment and management of patients across a broad diagnostic range within Primary Care settings; interest and ability to work in well-supported highly interdisciplinary team; supervision and education of psychiatry residents and allied health trainees; interest /track record of program improvement and academic activities/achievements and; interest and track record of medical leadership. Core responsibilities include providing integrated psychiatric care as part of a multidisciplinary team (primarily the Primary Care-Mental Health Service) but also across other services (e.g. Outpatient Psychiatry). Specific responsibilities include bringing psychiatric expertise to a multidisciplinary team of Primary Care clinicians to provide same-day assessments, consultations and time-limited treatments to primary care patients with mental health needs, and supervision of medication care management. The position will be responsible for the oversight and provision of emergency/transitional mental health services within the Clinic for patient in crisis. Thus collaboration within and across primary care and mental health services will be integral to the position. Responsibilities also include providing as needed on site coverage in the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System sites including hospital based programs. Duties also include supervision of psychiatric trainees as well as contributing to the academic mission of the service. Medical leadership opportunities will be considered for candidates with a strong interest and a track record. As well, participating in collaborative clinical program improvement and/or clinical research projects with existing research projects/researchers at the VA and the University of Michigan is encouraged. The VA Ann Arbor Mental Health Service is a Partner Affiliate of the Department of Psychiatry, University of Michigan Medical School. Qualifications/Requirements: Candidates should be board eligible/certified in Psychiatry, have strong broad clinical (outpatient and hospital based settings) and leadership skills and ability to adapt and work flexibly in/with several multidisciplinary teams. Specialty board eligibility/certification is considered but not required (Geriatric/Addiction/Psychosomatic). Experience with Telepsychiatry is preferred but not required. Candidates should qualify for an appointment to the University of Michigan Medical School faculty as a Clinical Track Instructor (or higher) level in Psychiatry. Faculty appointment in the University of Michigan Medical School requires national academic recognition with demonstrated skills in clinical care, teaching and administration. Tour of Duty: Regular VA tour of duty is 8 AM to 4:30 PM, M-F though this might be flexible based on the needs of the service.
