The Psychiatrist is assigned to inpatient or outpatient mental health or primary care mental health integration programs. Staff Psychiatrists diagnose mental disorders and treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders. Staff Psychiatrists prescribe medications according to their scope of practice. In addition, Psychiatrists will be responsible for: Provides a full range of psychiatric services. Diagnoses mental disorders particularly for complex or unusually difficult patients. Provides comprehensive interventions. Provides consultation to professional staff within the other specialty programs in the Mental Health Service. Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients, including prompt completion of clinical reminders. Functions independently as a member of the ECHCS Medical Staff, with full clinical privileges. Assumes complete professional responsibility for his/her clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and documentation. Provides outreach services to veterans and family members. Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients. Complies with all CPRS documentation procedures, including timeliness standards for documentation and proper patient check out procedures. Attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings held by the Service Line Director and facility Director. Adheres to operational policies and procedures for the treatment team. Provides clinical supervision and instruction for psychiatry residents. Occasional travel to other VA Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) or the Denver VA Medical Center is possible. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:00 to 4:30 or as agreed upon with the possibility of extended hours and weekends. NOTE: Candidates must be willing to work weekends, irregular work hours and extended hours.
