Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
The Bath, NY VAMC is needing a Psychiatrist to work Full-time for 6 months. We are looking for a Psychiatrist that is either Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry must have completed a full Psychiatric residency. Provider must have a current fee-paid non-exempt DEA, BLS, any active state license and must be comfortable using an EMR system.. Provider will be seeing a variety of mental illness patients (PTSD, Bipolar, and Substance abuse). Patient load is 10 patients a day from the rehabilitation treatment or behavioral health outpatient clinic. The outpatient clinic will have 60 mins for new patients and 30 mins for follow ups. Provider will be required to utilize the Tele-Health system. This position will be 100% Direct Patient Care. The work schedule is Monday - Friday 8:00a-5:30p. (No call is required)
A psychiatrist (locum tenens) is a mental health professional, who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. After completing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
