Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
Board Certified psychiatrist needed inpatient duties at 20 bed psychiatry unit in Ithaca. April start for ongoing coverage as facility recruits new providers. Seven to eight patient caseload with basic duties including admissions, discharges and daily rounding. 1:6 call available if desired. Great rates with travel and lodging provided. A psychiatrist (locum tenens) is a mental health professional, who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. After completing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
