Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
A hospital in northeastern Illinois is seeking a Psychiatrist for three months of coverage. Enjoy this small town or take a day trip to Chicago. The schedule is 4 hours a day/5 days a week and one 24 hour call a week. The call is home call. Patients are all 18 and older. On average 10 to 12 patients are seen daily.
A psychiatrist (locum tenens) is a mental health professional, who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. After completing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
