The Center for Health Care Services is a large community mental health center serving the medically underserved of San Antonio and Bexar County. We are a forward thinking and innovative organization providing adult, child and adolescent and substance use services through traditional clinics as well as jail diversion, specialty court, homeless and integrated primary care / behavioral health clinics and a variety of grant funded innovation efforts.

WE ARE SEEKING PSYCHIATRISTS TO JOIN OUR TEAM

The Psychiatrist is responsible for conducting psychiatric examinations, prescribing and monitoring of psychotropic medications, and other consumer/patient related services, and completing associated documentation. Psychiatrist may also provide supervision of Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.

TASKS
1.Conducts psychiatric examinations and review collateral information of assigned patients in accordance with applicable guidelines
2.Prescribes psychotropic medications in accordance with the Center’s Prescribing Practices Policies and Procedures to treat psychiatric illness; order labs in accordance with recommended guidelines
3.Completes physician's certificates or other documentation for involuntary treatment in accordance with applicable laws and the Mental Health Code
4.Evaluates urgent psychiatric patients in a competent and timely manner
5.Complies with commitment laws 100% of the time
6.Complies with Center's EMR requirements as established and modified from time to time
7.Performs Medicaid Administration Claiming (MAC) Time Study on a quarterly basis, and Participates in the Center's cost containment efforts
8.Responds to patients and families when requested or needed
9.Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1.Current Texas Physician's permit, Texas Department of Public Safety Controlled Substance Registration Certificate (DPS), and U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency Substance Registration Certificate (DEA)
2.Must be Board Eligible
3.Completion of an accredited Psychiatric Residency Program
4.Must apply to be credentialed with all Center contracted payors
5.Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications and EMR systems
6.Must maintain required credentials and mandatory training requirements to ensure compliance with all State regulations and CHCS policies
7.Must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, be able to travel as needed, and be able to meet on a consistent basis the driving record requirements of the Company’s auto insurance carrier if you drive your vehicle during company business
8.Must be able to meet the physical requirements to complete SAMA and CPR training including lifting up to 12 lbs. and supporting up to 55 lbs.; bending, stooping and getting on and off the floor without assistance.
9.FOR ALL NURSING AND DIRECT CARE POSITIONS ONLY: Must have adequate mobility that requires frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching (vertical and horizontal), using fingers, hands, feet, legs and torso in various care. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to occasionally transfer a consumer.
