Child psychiatry (locum tenens) involves the diagnosis and treatment of feeling, thinking, and behavioral disorders affecting children, adolescents, and their families. Diagnostic assessments give attention to the physical, emotional, educational, cognitive, genetic, developmental, family, peer, and social aspects. An unified approach in child psychiatry, to effectively treat patients, may involve individual, group, or family psychotherapy, medication, and consultation with other physicians or professionals from schools, juvenile courts, social agencies, or other community organizations.
