Functional Title: Staff Psychiatrist
State Title: Physician, Board Certified
Responsibilities:
The Staff Psychiatrist provides medical and psychiatric services for clients with psychiatric diagnoses who are admitted to the community residential crisis stabilization program. Provides clinical oversight and consultation to non-physician staff on treatment methodologies.
Provides medical care to clients. Examines and evaluates the consumer to determine condition and needs. Writes orders for any precautions, restrictions, medications, or consultations necessary for appropriate treatment. Leads interdisciplinary team in formulating individualized treatment plans. Works with clinicians, nurses and direct care staff to evaluate progress and revise treatment plan as needed. Provides supportive counseling and education to clients and family members. Determines need for discharge from the program and provision of follow-up treatment. Facilitates hospitalization of clients, as needed. Maintains clinical records according to prescribed protocols.
Serves on program committees and task forces as needed. May provide oversight and instruction to medical students and residents.
Minimum Training & Experience:
Graduation from a medical school recognized by the composite state board of medical examiners. License to practice medicine in the state of Georgia as provided by state law. Must pass criminal record fingerprint check.
