PHYSIATRY: Candidate must meet VA standards for employment including citizenship or proper Authorization to work in the U.S., proficiency in written/spoken English, board certification or board eligibility in Physiatry is strongly desired, possess and maintain a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, Territory or commonwealth of the U.S. Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday Friday. This physician works in Rehabilitation Service, and examines patients to determine appropriate rehabilitative medical and programmatic needs. The physician diagnoses and treats patients in three major areas of medical care: 1) diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and pain syndromes; 2) electrodiagnostic medicine; and 3) rehabilitation of patients with severe impairments. Instructs other disciplines and personnel in nature and duration or dosage of treatment, and determines that treatments are administered as specified. Prescribes exercises designed to develop functions of specific anatomical parts or specific muscle groups. Recommends therapy activities for patients with extended convalescent periods and for those whose disability requires a change of occupation or level of duty. Provides age-specific care for young adults (20-40 years), middle adults (40-65), older adults (65-74 years) and geriatric (over 75 years).
