Job Summary:
The Women’s and Children’s CMO leads pediatric clinical and quality initiatives that support the provision of consistent clinical performance and practice standards across the Women’s and Children’s hospital; reviews quality performance with hospital leadership; facilitates the analysis of quality performance and prioritization improvement opportunities; provides senior level leadership to the infection control, risk management, safety, and medical staff credentialing functions ,regarding pediatrics ,ensuring the collaboration and coordination of all stakeholders in these processes; facilitates Women’s and Children’s(pediatric focus) medical staff integration; and consults on an array of issues involving pediatric physicians.

Primary Responsibilities:
• As the chief clinical spokesperson for Women’s and Children communicates the CMC /Women’s and Children’s vision for outstanding clinical care.
• Synthesizes and interprets the status of pediatric clinical care and provides Pediatric leadership for effort to continually improve care. Includes producing clinically relevant quality assurance instruments and other tools to support this process.
• Ensures the provision of an exceptionally effective and compliant quality management program to include infection control and risk management functions, ensuring the facility receives the support and services needed to meet program objectives. Coordinates to ensure baseline compliance and competitive clinical performance.
• Ensures the provision of an effective and compliant medical staff office, including bylaws and credentialing.
• Ensures the provision of an excellent regulatory compliance program providing leadership and expertise to functions throughout the hospital.
• Provides consultation and acts as facilitator as needed for issues and decisions involving pediatric medical care/staff, and represents Women’s and Children’s senior leadership as a partner to the medical staff.
• Drives increased physician use of information and tools to support integrated pediatric care delivery. Participates in and, in some cases, leads the evaluation of pediatric products of services having major clinical impact including the selection and implementation of clinical applications of CMC information systems.
• Manages the implementation of strategies for continuing medical education for pediatric physicians which support CMC clinical functions.
• Supports and expands the development of integrated pediatric clinical programs and service lines within CMC with a focus on existing lines.
• Coordinates with and participates in HCA National Clinical Operations, and Quality and Patient Safety leadership to align resources and provide input in establishing priorities for all of the pediatric product line
• Drives performance improvement on publicly-reported pediatric measures to target performance objectives and ensure implementation of quality and patient safety improvement initiatives consistent with major national programs.
• Has oversight for ensuring that mechanisms for reporting incidents or errors in pediatric patient care are effective, well communicated, and maintain confidentiality, as appropriate. Develops an organizational culture that openly encourages reporting of incidents/errors as a means to improving overall clinical/operational performance.


Qualifications:
• Ideally, has been a CMO (or equivalent) in a large, complex hospital or regional health system.
• Board certified physician with practice experience.
• Graduate degree in business or comparable degree is a decided plus.
• Minimum five years of clinical practice experience.
• Experience communicating a vision in a broad range of clinical environments, preferably within an open system.
• Management of a complex quality program design and implementation.
• Involvement in the implementation of significant clinical practice change.
• Leadership of quality improvement initiatives that have resulted in measurably outstanding outcomes and/or shown significant enhancements recently.
• Management of multi-disciplinary teams of clinicians and staff.
Minimum License and Certificates Required
• Licensed by the State Medical Board.
