Our academic institution's Department of Surgery seeks a third BC/BE pediatric surgeon. Successful candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD or DO degree and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited surgery residency program and be fellowship trained and board certified/eligible in pediatric surgery. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with credentials. Responsibilities will include providing excellent patient care as well as teaching medical students and pediatrics residents. Opportunities exist to participate in clinical and translational research.
We are a regional referral center for pediatric subspecialties and provide our faculty with direct access to highly advanced technological resources and comprehensive pediatric services. We have a 43-bed level IV NICU and our PICU has level 1 status, the highest ranking a hospital PICU can receive. This unit provides specialized care to critically ill infants and children of all ages. It is composed of 19 beds, one treatment bed, and five stepdown beds and serves patients admitted for complicated medical procedures such as cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, otolaryngology, orthopaedics, and serious illnesses. Rapid transport via HealthNet helicopter makes hospital services more widely accessible for emergencies.We are a designated Level 1 adult trauma center and a Level 2 pediatric trauma center by the American College of Surgeons, the highest pediatric designation in West Virginia.
