The Children’s Hospital of Michigan and University Pediatricians are looking to recruit Pediatric Gastroenterologists to work with a respected team composed of highly qualified pediatric gastroenterologists. because of community need and to continue to grow their program. The program is ranked as one of best in the nation by U.S. News & World report 2013-2014. This is a great opportunity to join a thriving and growing program in a location where there is a distinct need. (There are only approximately 20 Pediatric Gastroenterologists in the state.)


The Children’s Hospital of Michigan’s Pediatric Gastroenterology program is a great group to practice with. Currently, there are 6 attending physicians including 3 with over ten years of experience, 2 mid-career physicians, and one recently out of training. All are currently Board Certified. board-certified pediatric gastroenterologists in conjunction with pediatric general and transplant surgeons. Additionally, it is supported by 2 nutritionists, 2 NPs, and 4 RNs. In addition to services at the children’s hospital, there are currently four satellite locations in the suburbs with another planned to open at the end of 2015. This is also an extremely large and busy program and one of the most requested pediatric specialty services at Children's Hospital of Michigan. Last year, the division provided over 8,500 patient visits to the main campus and satellite locations. Additionally, the division performs approximately 1600 procedures annually; these procedures range from simple and specialized endoscopies, motility testing, reflux studies, and breath hydrogen testing. They have a recently established liver transplant program as well. The Children’s Hospital of Michigan’s services are highly sought after; the new patient wait can be 2 to 4 4 weeks because of current demand.

The division has an accredited Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship Program. It is a three-year program designed to offer a strong clinical and research experience and to prepare the trainee to qualify for the subspecialty boards in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition.

The ideal candidate for this position is a physician with an interest in IBD and/or eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders. Also, physicians with special training in motility would be strongly preferred. This position would be mainly outpatient clinic work, outpatient endoscopic procedures,and providing inpatient attending services with some inpatient procedures. In addition, the candidate is expected to participate in teaching, research, and scholarly activities.Call would be 1:6 or 1:7.
