The department of pediatrics, University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and Children’s Hospital of Illinois at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center are seeking a pediatrician with expertise in pediatric critical care to serve as the lead physician and/or as a full-time member of the faculty at the level of Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant professor.
The Children’s Hospital of Illinois is a major medical facility with 130 beds and a 32 bed critical care unit and the only Level 1 pediatric trauma center outside of Chicago. We offer the medical sophistication of a major referral center with ECMO, cardiac surgery, general surgery, neurosurgery, and other surgical specialties. We have a well-established Congenital Heart Program. Jump Trading Simulation Education Center, the state of the art simulation facility with over 40,000 sq. ft. of space with faculty and other resources, is located next door. This opens a tremendous research opportunity for simulation users. Peoria is a family oriented community with an excellent public school system and cultural diversity.

Responsibilities
• Provide clinical consultation services for critically ill patients hospitalized in the unit, including children with complex congenital heart disease.
• Provide consultation services for physicians and patients in the region with problems requiring critical care.
• Participate in undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs of the department.
• Perform other duties of a university faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development, student counseling, and administration.

Required Qualifications
• Eligible for licensure in Illinois.
• Board certified/eligible in pediatrics and pediatric critical care.
• Completion of a recognized fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine and residency in Pediatric or Combined Internal Medicine-Pediatric Program or equivalent experience in pediatrics sufficient to meet qualifications by the American Board of Pediatrics.
