Candidate with previous experience, preferably 2-5 years as a nurse practitioner in a mental health field. Candidate with experience in an acute care setting such as ER or crisis clinic The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing specialized mental health care under the supervision of the Clinical Director of Psychiatry and the Emergency Department. The duties and responsibilities entail seeing patients in the ED as well as seeing patients throughout the hospital as a consultant. Candidates must be comfortable with the interface between medical and psychiatric illnesses and be able to prescribe treatment accordingly. Duties will include the evaluation and treatment of patients including but not limited to performing initial and follow up psychiatric assessments ; conduct in-depth interviews with patients to develop a plan of care; assists in the coordination of appropriate follow up care, referrals and case management; initiating, renewing and changing medications ; ordering routine laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic tests and providing initial interpretations of results; providing education and training to the patient and family as necessary; serve as a resource in evaluation and management of psychiatric disorders for primary care staff in the ED and other services. Provides clinical leadership for the Psychiatric consult service. Competitive salary and full benefits
