Job Responsibilities: 1. Reports to assigned facility on designated dates and hours to examine referred patients. 2. Conducts on-site orthopedic sick call and chronic care clinics, as established by Medical Director and HSA. 3. Reviews and countersigns therapeutic orders and corresponding progress notes of inmates seen by the PA/CRNP/ARNP, if applicable, ensuring they are appropriate and effective. 4. Ensures progress note documentation is in SOAP format, problem oriented, corresponds to the therapeutic order and is dated, timed and legible, if written. 5. Cares for outpatients in the specialty clinic and outpatient department including performing a diagnostic evaluation, writing treatment plans, and ensuring proper follow-up 6. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations. 7. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations. 8. Must be alert at all times and pay close attention to details. 9. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis. Job Qualifications: Education: Required minimum qualifications are possession of a doctorate in medicine or osteopathy and completion of the requisite post-graduate training in orthopedic surgery. Experience: Board eligibility or certification in orthopedic surgery and an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state or states where services will be performed or supervised. Licenses/Certifications: He or she will be expected to obtain board certification on the appropriate schedule. He or she is expected to complete the required number of hours of continuing medical education in orthopedic surgery to maintain licensure in the state or states where services will be performed or supervised. Maintains a current unrestricted DEA license and any applicable state controlled substances licenses.
