Staff physician in the SCl/D Health Care Group is a board certified physician who serves as the SCI specialist and primary care physician for patients with spinal cord injury. He/She is to be responsible for both the inpatient and outpatient care for patients and provide coverage. He/She will function as specialty care physician with working knowledge of internal medicine problems to deliver a comprehensive medical care for veterans with spinal cord injury. He/She is a member of the regional or national spinal cord injury society. The Ernest Bors VA Long Beach Healthcare System Spinal Cord Injury Center is a CARF accredited, university affiliated state of the art 90 bed institution that proudly provides comprehensive medical, rehabilitation, and psychosocial primary care for spinal cord injured veterans throughout the continuum of their lives. The clinical duties of a Staff physician in the Spinal Cord Injury/ disorder healthcare group include: Inpatient and outpatient care of the SCI patients, carry a panel of SCI patients, supervise of residents, provide consults as requested/scheduled, provide medical support for midlevel practitioners, appropriate documentation including ensuring timely completion of medical documentations including H&P, discharge summary, co-signature of resident notes, progress note, medication reconciliation, etc Other duties include: team leader for the disciplinary plan of care conferences, attendance at the weekly SCI administrative department meetings, presentation at the SCI journal club and other educational activities, participate in research activities, membership in at least one hospital wide committee and active participation in SCI performance improvement activities. SCI R esidency: As Lead Faculty, his/her duties will include SCI orientation & training of PM&R residents from UCI, serving as research mentor, advising ways to improve the residency rotation, completing performance appraisals for residents, and giving lectures for SCI module didactics. Time and attendance.
